Renuka slams T-Cong MPs after meeting CM

In a surprise move, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday called on Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdary at latter’s residence at Banjara Hills.

Renuka Chowdary, however, described the visit as a courtesy call which lasted for about one-and-a-half hour. She said they did not discuss politics during the meeting.

However, talking to reporters later Renuka Chowdary slammed the eight MPs from Telangana region for questioning her stand on the statehood issue. She said she did not need certification from anyone on her association with the Telangana region. She asked the MPs as to what they have done when over 700 students and youth from the region committed suicide for the statehood cause. She said she was elected to Rajya Sabha recently while the leaders who are now criticising her were the members of Lok Sabha when students were resorting to extreme step.

Renuka Chowdary asked the MPs not forget the fact that they were elected on the Congress ticket and they should restrain from targeting leaders of their own party. However, she said she was not bound to reply to the allegations being leveled against her by the MPs.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that the Chief Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana were performing well. She also denied that reports that the party was not getting suitable candidates for the by-elections. She said many suitable candidates were in a queue to get party’s ticket. She said that she too ready to contest the elections and would do so if the party High Command directs her to do so.

Renuka Chowdary also ruled out the possibility of removal of Kiran Kumar Reddy as the Chief Minister after the by-elections. She said those making such demands should first learn discipline and then level allegations against the Chief Minister.
