Renowned writer, broadcaster and columnist Qamar Ali Abbasi passes away

Renowned Pakistani writer, broadcaster and columnist Qamar Ali Abbasi, son of Mr. Wajahat Ali Abbasi passed away in America on May 31. Abbasi was the writer of several books. Funeral prayer was offered on June 1, at Masjid Darul Quran New York.

Abbasi received the prestigious All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) Award in 1991 by the then Prime minister. Besides he was also conferred the Tamagha-e-Imtiaz in 2000.

The renowned writer was born in Amroha, India and moved to Pakistan at the age of nine. He got his early education in Murree and then moved to Hyderabad. He completed his BA (Hons), MA (Economics) and MA (Urdu) from the University of Sindh.
