Telangana Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel on Wednesday informed that the works on renovation of historic Mecca Masjid would begin after the month of holy Ramzan.
Speaking to media persons here, Omer Jaleel said that the renovation works would be completed in three phases stretched over 18 months at a cost of Rs. 8.5 crore. He said that 37 CC cameras in mosque premises would be fully functional before the beginning of Ramzan while six group cameras would be directly linked to Command Control at Charminar Police Station. He also informed that new prayers carpets would be laid at the mosque only after the completion of renovation works. However, he said the old carpets were being cleaned in view of Ramzan beginning from this month end. (INN)
