Accepting the representation made for repair and renovation of Hayat Bakhshi Begum Masjid situated at Hayatnagar, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had directed the State Archaeological Department to prepare estimates for complete renovation of the said mosque.
Despite the criminal negligence adopted by Archaeological department and Waqf Board towards it, the Qutub Shahi Masjid Hayat Bakhshi Begum located at the outskirt of the city has been listed among the most beautiful historical monuments by the state tourism. The land grabbers and corrupt officials of Archaeological department have gobbled up nearly 360 acres of masjid land and Muslims have lost the land worth thousands of crores of rupees.
Although some work had been done in 2010 after the then tourist minister Mrs. Geeta Reddy had sanctioned Rs 98 lakhs for the renovation of the masjid, but still a lot has to be done. Now that chief minster Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to sanction funds for renovation of the masjid, which according to sources requires Rs 3 to 4 crore. Forgetting his promise can prove dear to the Congress.
Even if the government fulfills its promise it is not doing any favour to Muslims but in fact the Congress government is responsible for destruction of thousands of crores of Waqf land by way of givien it to multi-national companies.
