New Delhi :French car major Renault said it has received over 50,000 booking orders for its small car Kwid in India in less than a month of its launch.
The car, which marked the company’s foray into the compact hatchback segment, is well on its way to set new benchmarks in the Indian automotive industry with the company receiving over 50,000 bookings, Renault India said in a statement.
“Deliveries have commenced across India to celebrate the festive season with our customers. We have ramped up the production and are taking concerted efforts to further accelerate production to enable faster deliveries,” Renault India Operations Country CEO and Managing Director Sumit Sawhney said.
The growing acceptance by first-time buyers indicates that Renault Kwid is truly an aspirational product, offering an outstanding value proposition, he added.
“Together with first-time buyers, we are also seeing new consumer trends across urban and rural India,” Sawhney said.
Renault had launched Kwid in last week of September, at a starting priced of Rs 2.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
According to Renault, Kwid is the country’s most fuel efficient petrol vehicle with a mileage of 25.17 kmpl. The company has taken the localisation level to 98 per cent in Kwid, which has positively influenced the overall cost of ownership.
