Removed 4.93 lakh bogus votes: CEO

Hyderabad: CEO Rajat Kumar today appealed to the people to participate in the democratic process of electioneering as the EC has made elaborate arrangements for smooth and fair polls in Telangana on December 7. Conducting the polls for the Assembly was really a challenge as it involves various factors, he said. However, the EC has made required arrangements in the State as media coordinated with wide coverage, he said.

Rajat Kumar was interacting with media persons at the “Meet the Press” at Somajiguda Press Club here. The EC has speeded up all the arrangements in just one month and kept everything in place including VVPATS being used for first time. We have removed as many as 4.93 lakh bogus, duplicate and fake votes from the electoral list including more than 2 lakh votes of repeated names and about 3 lakh votes of those died.

The CEO stated that revolutionary changes have been made in the polls using high end technology created awareness among the voters this time besides taking steps against the bogus voters. The EC has collected the details of the leaders with some criminal background and will take action accordingly.
“Right now we have focused on the manifestos of the politicl parties and promises being made in the election campaign that will come to an end on Dec 5. We have made fool proof arrangements with complete security and facilities for Dec 7 Assembly polls in 119 segments as results to be announced on December 11, he added.
