Remove Priyanka Chopra as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, says Pak petition

NEW DELHI: Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas has found herself in the tight spot after she cheered for war in a recent tweet when tensions were running high between India and Pakistan, which has not gone down well with her fans in Pakistan.

According to reports, some Pakistani citizensstarted an online petition tagging the UN and UNICEF, seeks the removal of global icon Priyanka Chopra as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, reported The News International.

Pertaining to actor’s victory tweet “Jai Hindi #IndianArmedForces” on February 26 after the Indian Air Force conducted multiple air strikes in Pakistan‘s Balakot, the petition argues that the actor ‘Cheered for war’, despite being the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

The ‘Quantico’ actress was made the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 2016.

On February 26, twelve days after the Pulwama attack, India had launched an anti-terror strike against a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror training camp in Pakistan’s Balakot, in which a large number of terrorists were killed by the Indian Air Force, according to Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale.

Like her other Bollywood counterparts, Priyanka too hailed Abhinandan’s courage.
