GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar gave two days time to the officers concerned to remove the piled up garbage or face on the spot suspension.
The Commissioner observed lot of garbage has been accumulated almost on all the main roads and said that even though the staff is on election duty, it is the prime responsibility of the GHMC sanitary officials to perform their regular duty. He directed all the Special Officers, Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners to be on field from now onwards in the morning to personally monitor the lifting of garbage on priority. He also stated that sweeping is also needs lot of improvement. The Commissioner promised the vacant AMOHs of Circle 8 & 18 will be filled up immediately on priority.
Meanwhile, the GHMC Commissioner congratulated the entire Revenue wing of GHMC for collecting 1000+ crores for the year 2013-14 and also for the early bird scheme where the property tax collected about Rs. 111 crores, where 25 per cent of the entire tax payers of 2013-14 have paid property tax in the early bird scheme. The Commissioner particularly thanked the property tax payers who have participated in the early bird scheme.
The Commissioner directed all the Deputy Commissioners to prepare the lists of eligibility employees of the Bill Collector and Tax Inspectors and Valuation Officers who have reached their targets and brought good property tax collection so that the incentives can be given to those employees as a token of encouragement in a thanks giving ceremony, to be organized by GHMC.
Somesh Kumar while briefing about the strategy for the year 2014-15 said that the Revenue Wing of GHMC to start assessing the new properties as per 56 column format by duly considering the issue date of occupancy certificate, the area mentioned in fire NOC, bulk meters of Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and commercial charges of APCPDCL. He directed for data purification of property tax on priority and the Commissioner opined that priority has to be given for the top 250 defaulters, clearing of court cases, double entries, Revision Petitions, zero assessments where demand is shown as zero, trade license to property tax have to be seriously to be viewed to improve the property tax collections. He further directed to collect 100% mobile numbers and email IDs of property owners during this house to house survey.
The Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to prepare Bill Collector wise top 250 defaulters list of 2013-14 and start collecting the property tax from 10 properties per a day. He said that nearly three lakh property owners have not paid their property tax in the year 2013-14 and directed to collect property wise details with reasons for not paying the property tax.
Somesh Kumar announced that Rs. 5/- per demand bill will be given to the Bill Collectors for serving the same to the property owners within 15 days time after that Rs. 3/- will be given per each demand bill and directed to collect correct data from property owners. The Commissioner has fixed up the responsibility of settling up of Revision Petitions on Deputy Commissioners and directed them to complete the process by this month end. He further directed the Deputy Commissioners to settle the court cases within two months.
The Commissioner directed the Additional Commissioner (Revenue) to collect the property tax of hoardings on every renewal and certain norms will be formed for collecting property tax on cell towers. (INN)
