Remove encroachments, ensure ‘no parking’: Delhi Lt. Governor

New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday directed officials to prioritise removal of encroachments and free the roads from unauthorised parking.

Chairing a review meeting on progress of traffic decongestion at Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Savitri Flyover (all in south Delhi) and Dhaula Kuan (west Delhi), he also asked the officials to ensure the encroachers, once removed, do not come back.

The Lt. Governor also directed all agencies to closely coordinate to complete the project in a time-bound manner.

Baijal said there should be no unauthorised parking at the stretches and directed the Public Works Department and Traffic Police to ensure proper display of “No Parking Zone” signboards.

“Commercial establishments should provide proper parking for their visitors or else must face action as per law, as roads are meant for commuting and not for unauthorised parking,” he said.

The meeting was attended by PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and Chief Secretary M.M. Kutty among other officials.
