Remove Digvijay from UP in-charge post: Varanasi Cong unit

Varanasi, May 08: The Varanasi unit of Congress today demanded removal of Digvijay Singh from the post of Uttar Pradesh party in-charge for “demoralising and insulting” its workers by his actions.

“We want to draw the attention of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and demand the removal of Digvijay Singh from the post of UP party in-charge or else there will be a serious question mark on the success of Mission 2012,” Congress” UP unit spokesperson Rajesh Khatri told reporters here.

“He (Digvijay) is constantly demoralising and insulting dedicated party workers by his actions,” Khatri said.

He alleged that Singh had made comments on Gandhian Anna Hazare”s crusade against corruption, Baba Ramdev and the burial of slain terrorist Osama bin Laden, moving away from party principles and tarnishing its image.

“We will sit on a fast here on May 18th in protest,” Khatri added.
