Hyderabad, April 30: A teenaged girl staged a dharna in front of her lover’s house today after the latter was reluctant to marry her after making her pregnant.
P Sujatha (19), a resident of Lenin Nagar in Meerpet, had been in love with an autodriver M Pavan, of the same locality, since three years.
Meerpet police said that Sujatha was sitting in dharna in front of Pavan’s house since yesterday evening. Sujatha alleged that she became pregnant for the third time during her affair with Pavan but she underwent abortions.
Whenever Sujatha discussed marriage with Pavan, he reportedly used to avoid her or give some or the other excuse. “Sujatha protested by staging dharna as he was unwilling to marry her. However, with the intervention of elders of both families, the couple’s marriage was performed today,’’ Meerpet Inspector K Dronacharyulu told Express.
Earlier in the day, police had to intervene as she also approached them seeking help.
