Last year the Supreme Court banned construction of temples, mosques, churches and gurudwaras on public places and directed state and central governments to refuse permission for the same. But the elements who want to disrupt peace ignored Supreme Court orders. Public Garden (Bagh-e-Aamma) has its unique identity. Located in the heart of the city of Hyderabad the Public Garden was built in 1846 by Osman Ali Khan, the VIIth Nizam of Hyderabad. Osman Ali Khan also built a museum in 1920 in the premises. After police action the museum was named Andhra Pradesh State Museum.
Some unscrupulous elements are deliberately trying to construct temples in the premises. They are emboldened due to criminal silence of high officials and law enforcing agencies. As many as 3 to 4 religious structures have been erected in the area so far. The latest example is the under construction religious structure near Asif Tennis Court. The walkers of Public Garden including Muslims and non-Muslims approached Siasat office and informed about the illegal structure sprouted up near historical tennis court set up in 1887. A 10×10 ft wall is constructed and an idol and a trishul have been placed on that along with a stone to break coconut upon it.
Police and higher officials should discourage such nefarious practices or else follower of different religions will start building up their own religious structures.
