BOSTON – Religious people may live longer than the atheist according to a new study carried out by Ohio State University.
The researchers have looked at more than a thousand obituaries in country’s 42 major cities only to come to a conclusion that people with religious affiliations or simply religious people live four years longer than those who follow no religion, CBS reported.
Previously, studies have proved people who volunteer or build social networks among people often live longer but now the study has also proved people with religious affiliations often live longer.
With some religions placing restrictions on harmful behaviours like alcohol, drugs, and other illegal activities, practicing religion also gives peace of mind and reduces stress.
