Religious conversion in J&K: Police register case

Srinagar, November 01: Police have registered a case against “unknown” persons after a video purportedly showing conversion of Muslim youths to Christianity surfaced on various social networking sites.

“We have registered a case under relevant sections of the law over allegations of religious conversions in the Valley,” a senior police official said today.

He said the case was registered following complaints that Kashmiri youths were being lured away from their religion.

A Shariat court (Islamic Court) has issued a notice to a Christian priest to explain his position on alleged conversion of Muslim youths to Christianity at a Church here.
