Relief to Sabita :CBI wont arrest her

Hyderabad, April 09 : Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy named an accused in the disproportionate assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, got some relief as the CBI appears to be not planning to arrest her. The agency filed a memo, seeking issuance of summons to 13 accused including Sabita Indra Reddy. As CBI had not sought the arrest of the accused including Sabita, others also got relief.

CBI would issue summons to the accused to appear before her on a given date. This would mean that the agency was not planning to arrest her in the near future. Though CBI has also named minister Dharmana Prasada Rao an accused in the Vanpic case, the agency had not arrested him. He has been appearing before the court, whenever summoned. However another minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was arrested earlier.

It may be recalled that the CBI filed the five charge-sheet in Jagan case in the court on Monday. Sabita Indra Reddy was named fourth accused in the case. CBI filed this charge-sheet against Dalmia Cements. Sabita Indra Reddy was minister for mines when Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister. The CBI had already named former minister Mopidevi and minister Dharmana accused in the case. Mopidevi submitted his resignation after he was named accused. Though Dharmana also submitted his resignation, the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy rejected it.

In the charge-sheet against Dalmia, Jagan was named Accused 1, while Vijayasai Reddy was named accused 2, Dalmia Cements MD Punit Dalmia A3, Sabita Indra Reddy A4, suspended IAS officer Sri Lakshmi A 5, Mines former MD Raja Gopal A 6, Eswar Cements MD Sajjala Diwakar Reddy A 7, Dalmia Cements Senior Executive Sanjay S Mitra A 8, Dalmia Senior Manager Nil Dhamal Bheri A 9, Dalmia manager Jayadeep Basu A 10, Raghuram Cements A 11, Dalmia Cements A 11 and Eswar Cements as A 13.

CBI authorities brought the charge-sheet in two boxes to the court. They prepared a 67-page charge-sheet against Dalmia Cements and included 47 persons as witnesses. CBI charged that Dalmia Cements got undue benefits during the rule of YSR from the government and had invested Rs. 95 crore in Jagan’s companies in return. Dalmia Cements was given 30 years lease of lime stone mines of 407 acres in Mylavaram in Kadapa district on a 30 year lease.

Dalmia Cements is charged of investing Rs. 50 crore in Jagan’s Bharati Cements and Rs. 45 crore in Jagati Publications. CBI charged that Dalmia Cements invested money in Jagan’s companies under quid pro quo deals. The agency registered cases against Sabita Indra Reddy under sections 120B, 409, 420 of IPC and sections 9, 12, 13 and 13(1) of the Anti Corruption Act.
