New Delhi: Reliance Telecommunications have reportedly shut down its voice call services starting today reeling under debt of Rs 46,000 crores.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) in its direction to all telecom operators said Rcom on 31 October 2017 has intimated that “RCL (Reliance Communications Limited) shall provide only 4G data services to its customers and as a result will discontinue providing voice services to the subscribers… with effect from 1st December 2017,” adding that reliance customers can move to other networks by the end of the this year.
Now that the validity of news is confirmed, other telecom operators are anxious to acquire the huge number of Rcom customers.
Vodafone in its statement has told the initiative for number portability has already begun and customers can now facilitate the operator’s service along with offering the customers with loads of new data and voice offers leaving Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Gujarat, where this facility is not offered by Vodafone.

RCom could not successfully close the merger deal with Aircel. In order to save the company with further losses, RCom has decided to shut down its 2g services as well and concentrate on 3G and 4G services.
The regulator has directed RCom not to reject any of its subscribers porting request and asked other operators to accept the request of RCom subscribers till December 31, 2017 reported Times Now.
