A Cabinet meeting today directed the officials concerned to release drinking waters to Khammam district and irrigation waters to Nalgonda district. At a review meeting on projects and supply of waters for drinking and crops at MCRHRD here, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Finance Minister Etala Rajender, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Khammam MP P Srinivas Reddy and officials discussed Sriramsagar, Nagarjuna Sagar and other projects.
Harish Rao later asked the officials to inform to the people and farmers about the release of the waters. Do not keep them in dark about the release of waters he said. The Ministers appreciated the officials for taking optimal measures that resulted in drastic reduction in the current bills of Nagarjuna Sagar to Rs 5 cr from Rs 60 cr. Directing them to complete Devadula project works by this Aug end Harish asked the officials to distribute irrigation waters to 95000 acres by completing 12 medium range projects in Adilabad District by next year July. He also asked for an action plan for supplying drinking water in Warangal and Karimnagar districts keeping in view the water availability. (NSS)
