Urging the President of the Nation and Governor of the State to release the prisoners who have shown good conduct, on the occasion of Independence day celebrations on August 15, former minister Dr P Shanker Rao has said that both of them had released several prisoners on January 26 last, and they have to do the same now.
Speaking to the media at CLP Office premises here on Monday, Dr Rao said that he addressed letters to both the President and the Governor in this regard. Finding fault the Minor Irrigation Minister TG Venkatesh for defending his remarks against the IAS officers, Dr Rao asked Venkesh to take back his words immediately. It was not correct for him to show his anger on the officials, instead of showing it on some body else. He said that the officers will loose their patience with this type of incidents and asked the Chief Secretary to react on Venkatesh’s remarks and support the IAS officers. “Who are you Venkatesh to take Law and Order into your hands”, he asked. He said that the officers will be discouraged with this sort of actions by the public representatives and the Congress party would also get a bad name. He asked the Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to initiate action against Venkatesh. (NSS)
