Release adequate funds to Fire dept: Shankar Rao

Former Congress minister P Shankar Rao on Thursday expressed serious concern over the increasing fire accidents in the twin-cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Shankar Rao stated that the state Fire Services Department has totally failed to handle efficiently the fire mishaps in the State due to lack of updated technology and equipment.

He appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to release enough funds for Fire Services Department to purchase sophisticated equipment to handle efficiently the fire mishaps and prevent damage to property.

Accusing the Police Department of totally failed to identity the mishaps, he said that the government should order probe into fire mishaps and take serious action on those who are responsible for mishaps.

He also appealed to the Chief Minister to help assistance to victims in fire mishap at Kukatpally, Abids and Begumpet.

He also hinted that the state would witness `change of guard’ within next 7 days.
He stated that the YSR Congress party would sweep the by-elections and win majority of constituencies.
