Relative calm on J&K borders after two days of firing

Jammu: After two days of heavy firing across the border with Pakistan, it was a comparatively calmer night for thousands of border residents in the Jammu region on Sunday.

“There was calm on the international border during the night,” a police statemet said, adding that the Pakistan Army fired at Indian positions in Shahpur, Manjakote and Mendhar sectors on the Line of Control during the night but after Indian positions retaliated they stopped.

Nine people including six civilians and three security personnel were killed in Pakistan ceasefire violation along the international border and the LoC during the last two days.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has sounded red alert in all areas close to the in the Jammu region.
