Rehabilitation of uninhabited Masjid Mohammedia at Uppal rankled communal forces and it seems that the police are also bowing down to their command. The local police, heedless to the directions of commissioner Cyberabad, are taking measures to stop Muslims from entering into the Masjid.
According to president Masjid Committee Hafiz Mohammed Omer Shafi, while a strong, wealthy and influential personality of the area, Laxmi Narayana is blocking all the paths leading to Masjid, the police are taking the photographs of the Musallis, arriving at the Masjid regardless all obstacles. The police are harassing the Musallis by asking their names and registering their addresses in a register.
It must be noted that Masjid Mohammedia had been rehabilitated on July 27, by offering Friday prayers, following the publication of a detailed report in Siasat daily regarding the uninhabited Masjid.
Work is in full swing to construct walls around the Masjid. Nearly 20 to 25 labours are working on this and JPC machine is also being used. Laxmi Narayana who is blocking the ways towards the Masjid has to say that he had constructed the Masjid for his Muslim labours now that the factory has been shut down, the Masjid is also being closed.
