Registered Wakf properties can’t be reviewed: Centre

New Delhi, January 13: The Centre today rejected a recommendation of Punjab state Law Commission for a review of the existing Wakf properties on account of alleged irregularities, saying once registered these cannot be reviewed.

“A Wakf property registered once is a Wakf property according to the Supreme Court ruling. Of course it can be challenged in a court of law in which the limitation of 12 years for any title suit prevails. If no body challenges in 12 years, then it cannot be reviewed in any other manner,” Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told reporters here.

He was talking to reporters after chairing the 56th meeting of Central Wakf Council here in which the issue came up for discussion.
