Hyderabad: Telangana people should be in a position dictate terms to the Centre by winning 16 MP seats, TRS working president KT Rama Rao has said.
Addressing a parliamentary preparatory meeting of the party at Warangal in the presence of minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, former deputy chief minister Kadiam Srihari and others, KTR predicted that a coalition of regional parties will wrest power at the Centre as the ruling BJP may hardly get 150 seats and the Opposition Congress 100 seats. While Narendra Modi’s graph has been diminishing and States suffered drubbing in the recent polls and the Congress do not enjoy the support of the people and the entire nation was looking at an alternative at the Centre, he felt.
KTR said, “The people voted for the Congress with no other go so far, but now the situation has totally changed. With winning 16 MP seats, Telangana will decide the future Prime Minister of the country and the people and party leaders should coordinate for the victory of the ruling party. The two national parties are not ours and the local leaders have to take permission from Delhi bosses for everything”, he ridiculed. KTR said no party or any leader took care of the farmers in the country and KCR was the only Chief Minister in post-independent India to think about farmers’ welfare and came up with historic schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bhiima schemes.
“The Modi Government and several other States like AP, West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka and others were following our schemes. The Chief Minister has become popular as good administrator in the State and ideal to other 28 States in the country. The Modi Government was implementing similar scheme in the name of PM Kisan program to give Rs 6,000 to each farmer across the country. We need to demand rights at the Centre by having our own MP seats and achieve our goals for State’s development”, KTR said.
“Telangana ideologue late Prof Jayashankar used to tell us to have self-rule for self-respect and development at all levels and KCR has achieved the Statehood. Now that the people of Warangal segment are noted for awareness and self-respect, the TRS has to win with five lakh majority votes in the Lok Sabha elections, he added. The Modi Government, which gave funds to AP when Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was NDA partner has denied the same to Telangana State”, he charged. Despite Niti Ayog recommendation of Rs 24,000-crore assistance, the BJP Government at the Centre did not give funds, he said.
