Hyderabad, February 1: The Telangana separatists’ influence to disrupt the Racha Banda in the region went ahead unabated for the eighth day in succession on Monday.
In the districts of Karimanagar, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, the programme was either boycotted or was held for name sake as the locals cooperated with the agitators.
In Chittoor district, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, state Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy participated in the programme.
They interacted with the beneficiaries.
Ms Geetha Reddy gave away pensions, loans to women groups and delivered other benefits to the beneficiaries. Applications for ration cards were received by her.
Former actress and MLA Jayasudha and MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy attended the programme in the Tarnaka division.
Speaking to media persons, Ms Geetha Reddy asserted that Racha Banda was intended to provide a gainful package for poor beneficiaries.
In Boothpur mandal, Mahabubnagar district, officers stopped the programme halfway through at the behest of Telangana students.
