Refrain from chest-thumping over IAF strike: BJP to party leaders

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Tuesday have asked party leaders to avoided any direct reference to Pulwama or the air strike and project the move as a “pre-emptive strike at terror camps to protect the sovereign space and its security.”

Accordng to The Indian Express report, the party has given “No need to be boisterous,” advise to its national spokespersons in the Cabinet Committee on Security in the wake of the IAF raid across the Line of Control to target terror camps.

“We do not have an idea how Pakistan will react to it. It is not yet the time to rejoice, but we have to stay alert. This was the direction from the leadership,” The IE quoted a senior party leader as saying.

BJP president Amit Shah responded two hours after Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale’s media briefing and tweeted, “I congratulate and salute the bravery and valour of our armed forces. Today’s action further demonstrates that India is safe and secure under the strong & decisive leadership of PM @narendramodi… Today’s strong action shows the will and resolve of a New India. Our New India will not spare any acts of terror and their perpetrators and patrons.”

Earlier, party general secretary Ram Madhav had tweeted: “Salute to d Air Force for a meticulous operation. Our forces r world class anyway. It is d political will of our PM n team that made all d difference.”

India on Tuesday carried out air strikes at a massive JeM camp in Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, eliminating a “large number” of terrorists, including top commanders, according to Foreign Secretary VijayGokhale.

The terror camp, which is located in a thick forest area atop a hill, was led by Ustad Gauri, brother-in-law of JeM chief Masood Azhar, Gokhale told media hours after the air strikes using Mirage 2000 jets were carried out.
