Johannesburg, Oct.26 : Reeva Steenkamp’s father Barry Steenkamp has expressed his desire to meet paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius, saying that it will help to get more ‘closure’ over the killing of his daughter.
Barry Steenkamp asserted that he would not say anything to Pistorius and would just have a look at his daughter’s killer, Sport24 reported.
He added that the 28-year-old paralympic runner has been extremely lucky with the sentence.
Meanwhile, Reeva’s mother June, said, that she only wants Pistorius to realize the loss that the family is suffering by his deed.
Earlier, Pistorius was released on parole and put under house arrest at his uncle’s house after serving almost a year in prison for killing his girlfriend.
Pistorious will now spend the rest of his five-year sentence under house arrest.
Meanwhile, prosecutors are calling on a panel of judges at the country’s Supreme Court to overrule a decision by another judge to acquit Pistorious of murder charges. A state appeal against Pistorius murder acquittal will be heard in November.
If prosecutors succeed in their appeal against the culpable homicide conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal and have it upgraded to murder, Pistorius would face a minimum of 15 years in jail. (ANI)
