Record RTI applications disposed of

Hyderabad, March 28: A record applications were disposed of in the State under the Right to Information (RTI) Act in 2010 as the achievement crossed 90 per cent mark for the first time.

As many as 1 lakh out of 1.10 lakh applications (90.97 per cent) were dealt with and 98,000 pieces of information furnished, said the report of AP Information Commission which was submitted by its Chief Commissioner Jannat Hussain to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday.

The report stated that the Revenue Department accounted for the largest number of applications received (43,000). The disposal of appeals and complaints by applicants was, however, the lowest during the year as compared to previous four years. Hyderabad topped with 1,171 cases of appeals and complaints.

Among the departments, the Revenue Department recorded the highest number of 1,203 cases in the category.
