Recall forces from OU: Telangana TDP leaders

Hyderabad, January 09: The Telangana Telugu Desam Party Forum (TTDPF) wanted Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to withdraw the paramilitary forces and other police forces from Osmania University and other educational institutions in the Telangana region.

TDP Telangana MLAs led by Forum convener Nagam Janardhan Reddy submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister this evening.

They contended that the police and paramilitary forces were indulging in unnecessary provocative activities.

“The police forces have been deployed against the court orders and are unnecessarily creating problems to the people, particularly to the students by resorting to lathi charge, tear gas and firing. Many students were injured and admitted to hospitals during the past two days creating panic in the educational institutions, especially in Osmania, Kakatiya and other universities. The students are not being allowed to move freely within the educational institutions and are being harassed by the police,” the TDP leaders said.

The TDP leaders also urged the chief minister to lift restrictions imposed on the media on telecasting the happenings in the region.

They requested him to prevail upon the Centre and see that a Bill was introduced in the coming Budget session of the Parliament. When the TDP delegation demanded recall of paramilitary forces, the Chief Minister told them that it was the Centre which had deployed the forces. He had denied paramilitary forces entering Osmania University campus.
