Realtor, father threatened over land deal

Hyderabad, April 04: A realtor and his father were allegedly attacked and threatened to part with land by unidentified persons, who claimed to be associates of the Home minister at Gurramguda today. The realtor was having a dispute with one Damodar Reddy over ownership of the land, police said.

According to police, the disputed three-acre land at Gurramguda on city outskirts reportedly belongs to TR Mohan Rao, who resides in the same village. According to Mohan Rao’s son, Karunakar, a realtor from Habsiguda, he was on his way to his father’s house today morning, when he got a call from his father that some unidentified persons had come to the house and were threatening him over the land dispute.

“By the time I reached my father’s place, there were nearly 40 persons armed with weapons including knives and guns. They beat up my father and threatened me to settle the land dispute. I could only identify Damodar Reddy with whom I have a land dispute. Others threatened saying they are associates of the Home minister,’’ Karunakar told Express.

According to Karunakar, they took a loan from Damodar Reddy by keeping the three-acre land as surety some years ago.

After the amount was paid, the agreement was cancelled but Damodar Reddy made forged documents and starting claiming the land, he claimed. The dispute is still in court.

After threatening the realtor and his father, the miscreants left the place.

Karunakar lodged a complaint. Police have registered a case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) against the unknown persons and are investigating.
