Hyderabad, January 08: Maulana Syed Tariq Quadri, former member of Minorities Commission reacted sharply on the attitude of Minorities Welfare Minister Mr. Ahmedullah for neglecting the persons who actively struggled for getting the compensation to the victims of Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast case. The minister praised an MLA and overlooked the real activists.
He gave all the credit to a local politicians party. This party declared the Muslims as the terrorists. Maulana Tariq Quadri said that Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy is worth congratulating that he implemented the rule of law and took initiative in imparting justice to the Muslims. After 63 years of Independence, Muslims were given compensation. For the first time the Muslim youths who were booked under fake cases and tortured while keeping them in private farm house, got compensations. By implementing the recommendations of State and Central Minorities Commissions history has been documented.
He said that this step of Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy would form precedent for other states. New ways of dealing such cases will be explored in the incidents of the victims of Malegaon, Gujarat, Mumbai and Aurangabad. The act of payment of compensation to innocent victims will have far reaching effects. If hiss compensation had been deducted from the salaries of the errant police officers, the police machinery would think ten times before arresting the innocent youths.
There is a provision in law for claiming compensation against the errant officials who arrest citizens unlawfully. For availing of the provision, Muslims had to perform a logn journey for 63 years. When these Muslim youths were arrested under the charges of terrorist activities, almost all the leaders including the Muslim politicians had to believe the concocted stories of the police.
However, justice loving people like Ravichandra, Advocate, Late Nirmala Gupalakrishinan, Nandita Rao, Anuradha, Dr. Mahender Reddy (Forensic Surgeon) Mohammed Afzal and Media, especially Siasat had taken a vow to seek justice for these Muslim youths. By inviting the leaders of national repute, Siasat made it a national issue. State and National Minorities Commission had also presented their recommendations. Against it, the MP of Hyderabad had given a statement to Hindustan Times in which he had blamed Shahid Bilal for the bomb blasts occurred in Hyderabad. He made people believe that there is a danger to his life from some Muslim youths. This interview was published on 2nd April 2008, it is another thing that when the Majlis leadership took the entire credit on the strength of their wealth.
Maulana Quadri said that he won’t hesitate to say that in getting justice to these innocent Muslims, there is a larger role of the justice loving non-muslim citizens.
Maulana Quadri expressed his surprise that from ministers from city namely Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, D. Nagender, M. Mukesh Goud & Dr. Shankar Rao were invited for the compensation distribution functions. In addition to this, 8 MP’s 13 MLC’s and 12 MLA’s were also invited for the function. Only four MLA’s and one Christian MLA attended the function the other non-muslims did not attend the function under the inhibition that they would have to face the wrath of non-muslims. Muslims demand an explanation from these public representatives to clarify the reasons or inhibitions under which they refrained from attending the function, or is if they are unhappy over the payment of such compensation Congress party has to produce practical evidence in order to make its position clear among the Muslims.
It is very cruel of them that the people’s representatives kept quiet from 2007 to 2012. The function was made exclusively Muslims versus non-Muslims. The anxiety of the people’s representatives could be gauged from the fact that they couldn’t force the Govt. to table the report of the Minorities Commission of the Assembly. It is very ironical that Majlis leadership was blaming the Muslim youths in the streets of Delhi and continued to express anxiety over the atrocities meted out by the police in Hyderabad.
The records of the Assembly are the proof that the party claiming to be championing the cause of the Muslims, didn’t open its mouth in the Assembly from 2007 to 2011.
It may be interesting to note that Human Rights Commission in its order dt. 2nd April 2008 had ordered DGP to probe into the victimization of the Muslims and produce a report within two months but after the lapse of more than three years, even the enquiry has not yet begun.
Maulana Quadri appealed to the Govt. to implement the remaining recommendations of the National Minorities Commission regarding installation of 24 hours helpline, implementation of Supreme Court’s ruling, employment to one family member of the victim, compensation to the victims of Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast and action against the errant police officials.
