The striking junior doctors of Telangana State here on Sunday declared that they were ready to work in the rural areas provided the government provide all facilities to them in the villages. Stating that the government should continue the present system, the striking medicos said they were agitating for provision of all the needed facilities for them in the rural areas.
Talking to mediapersons, Junior doctors’ association leaders said they would continue their agitation till the High Court delivered its verdict. They would chalk out further course of action in consultation with the legal luminaries.
Alleging that the TRS government was contemplating to send them away to the villages without providing basic facilities, the medicos lamented that the government was adopting “use and throw” policy towards them. They further said the junior doctors were not willing to go to the villages due to the hostile attitude of the State government. Under the circumstances, the rural population would not be able to get quality medical services. They also pointed out that practicing in the villages without registration would amount to criminal activity.
“If anything happens tomorrow, it would affect the junior doctors only”, they said, adding that they were tormenting with the feeling of insecurity. The medicos further contended that the government should take immediate steps to strengthen the government hospitals for the welfare of the people. (NSS)
