Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah today said their doors are open for talks with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for forging an electoral alliance.
Talking to mediapersons at Shamshabad International Airport after arriving here from New Delhi, Ponnala said he had been to the national capital to finalise the list of winnable candidates for general elections. He said they are ready for holding talks with the TRS also for an electoral alliance. Stating that the Congress was continuing talks with the CPI on alliance for the general elections, Ponnala said talks were going on for an alliance, he said. “If the TRS wants to hold talks on having a truck we will respond favourably, Lakshmaiah maintained.
The TPCC chief’s comments assume importance as AICC general secretary Digivijay Singh had also expressed his readiness to have a tie-up with the TRS as part of political strategy of the high command. Apparently, taking a cue from AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi, the TPCC chief softened his stand on having truck with the TRS, which bluntly said “No” to have any alliance with the Congress.
It may be recalled that Digvijay Singh, during his recent tour to Hyderabad, told the media that they have opened doors for holding talks with the TRS. Despite having given leaks to a section of media, the Congress was planning to disclose the final list of candidates for the elections only after March 30. (NSS)
