New Delhi, July 01: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today asked power distribution company BSES to pull up its socks and submit a detailed action plan with a point-wise description to bring the system back in gear on Wednesday.
“I have asked the BSES to file a plan of action for the next 15 days by tomorrow in writing,” Dikshit said after a review meeting with MLAs on Tuesday morning.
The BJP did not attend the meeting, with Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra saying they had not been informed about the meeting.
The Chief Minister has also asked BSES to include the details of all its 110 complaint centres, including names, designation and strength of officers apart from their functional telephone numbers.
This follows complaints from BJP MLAs that the staff hired by BSES to fix local faults is not qualified to undertake repair work. Dikshit has now asked the discom to submit necessary details with the action plan, saying it had been brought to her notice that BSES was reportedly hiring lesser qualified people at lower salaries to fix faults.
The discoms have also been directed to follow the schedule for loadshedding and ensure that they buy enough power through the trading system to meet the demand.
After complaints and criticism mounted on the CM, who holds the power portfolio in the Delhi Cabinet, she told the Delhi Assembly that the city has been facing power shortages since June 5 “because of frequency problems in the Northern Grid, coupled with the heat that led to a huge demand of power”.
