Hyderabad, January 2: The era of editorial writing and personal journalism is fast declining among Urdu newspapers which are inopportune for Urdu journalism. An editorial plays the role of conscience for any newspaper. These views were expressed by Mr. Sohail Waraich (Pakistan) while presenting his paper on “Urdu editorial writing and global scenario”. He asserted that though there is a development in printing and publishing in Urdu journalism yet the editorial is weakening.
President seminar Mr. Ahmed Sayeed Malihabadi declared Hyderabad as the city of Urdu and said that Hyderabad is active for the development of Urdu while other regions are lamenting on the decline of Urdu.
Proposing the idea of changing the world Urdu editors conference into a permanent association he said till the Urdu newspapers do not take the form of strong and dynamic association the problems of Urdu newspapers will remain the same.
Mr. Mahmood Shaam (Pakistan) also addressed the seminar.
Mr. Mirza Khairullah Baig sub editor Siasat daily stressing the need for inculcating reading habits in his paper said that Urdu journalism is developing but the number of readers of Urdu newspapers is gradually decreasing which is a matter of concern. If reading habits are inculcated among youth then it will not only increase their knowledge but many interests will also be developed.
Mr. Ghazanfar Ali Khan declared Siasat daily as a movement and said that Siasat has launched movement on every front and showed guided the nation.
