YSR Congress Party leaders on Friday staged a dharna before the office of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly Secretary demanding the reinstallation of photograph of former Chief Minister late Dr. Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy in the Assembly.
The party’s legislators and MPs went to meet Assembly Speaker Dr. Kodela Siva Prasad Rao. Since Dr. Kodela was not available in the office, they met Legislature Secretary Sathya Narayana and submitted a petition on the re-installation. Speaking to media persons later, YSRCP leader Umareddy Venkateshwarlu condemned the removal of YSR’s picture and said it was done out of political vengeance. He said YSR’s picture was kept during the previous regimes of K Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy. Further, he said the picture of former Speaker GMC Balayogi has been installed in Parliament Hall after he died in a helicopter crash.
When the Assembly Secretary told YSRCP leaders that he would take a decision after consulting the Speaker, they insisted that he first re-install the photo. They also sought to know the rules under which the picture was removed. (INN)
