Re-dipping can cause serious bacterial ailments

London, Aug. 9 (London): According to a recent research, dunking your cracker into a dip twice is one of the most heinous dinner party crimes one can ever commit.

Commonly referred to as ‘double-dipping, it can lead to a surge in bacteria and can also contribute in spreading bacterial diseases that spread via saliva, including Pneumonic plague, TB and Legionnaires, reports The Independent.

Robert Shmerling, the editor of Harvard’s Healthbeat journal, said: “This research does raise the possibility that a person who is sick might spread a disease by re-dipping a chip.”

The study also stated that the number of bacteria varies depending on the type of dip, with salsa holding more germs than chocolate or cheese.
