RBI system collapsed completely: Prof Gaurav Vallabh

Mumbai: The account holders of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative bank are perturbed like those who were affected due to demonetization.

In a press conference held at AICC, Prof Gaurav Vallabh, noted economist raised many questions. He told that on one hand, the rising onion prices and on the other hand, the matters pertaining to cooperative bank have shattered the people. When everything was okay, then what happened on 13th September that the RBI had to issue direction imposing the ban on the account holders for withdrawing more than Rs 1000 from their accounts.

He questioned the authority of the RBI for the ban. He further told that the RBI system has collapsed completely.

He pointed out that the BJP MLA’s son, Sardar Tara Singh is the Director of the PMC Bank and the bank has shown a profit of Rs 100 crore in 2018-19 and it has deposited Rs 65 crore with RBI.

If this is the case, why has this situation arisen? Why didn’t RBI inform the bank earlier?

It may be noted that the NPA pf this bank is good and it is under control. It is very surprising that this has been imposed
