Kanpur, February 26: Reserve Bank of India today lodged an FIR against a bank manager in the city for allegedly depositing fake notes in the currency chest of RBI here.
The FIR was lodged against the bank manager of SBI, Nayaganj branch, at Collectorganj police station, alleging he deposited 56 notes of Rs 100 denomination in the currency chest of RBI in July 2009, a police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, an official of Union Bank of India, Sarvodaya Nagar branch, lodged an FIR against an unknown person who deposited 206 fake currency notes, including Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, in the bank, police said.
Police were investigating both cases.
