Chennai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly put into circulation coins Rs. 10 denomination to commemorate the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar.
The outer ring of the bi-metallic coin is composed of aluminum bronze alloy and the centre piece is made up of cupro nickel.
The obverse face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend ‘Sathymeva Jayathe’ inscribed below ,flanked on the left periphery with the word ‘Bharat’ in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word ‘India’ in English and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol and denominational value ’10’ in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.
The reverse face of the coin shall bear the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the centre with inscription-‘125th birth anniversary of DR.B.R. Ambedkar in Devnagri script on upper periphery and the same wordings in English on the lower periphery respectively.
The year ‘2015’ shall be written in the international numerals below the portrait of Ambedkar.
These coins are legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act, 2011.
The existing coins in this denomination shall also continue to be legal tender.(ANI)
