Lahore, August 23: After being axed from the Champions Trophy sqaud, a dissapointed Abdul Razzaq asserted that he will regain his place in the national team soon.
”I’m obviously disappointed at being dropped for the Champions Trophy,” said Razzaq. ”I had regained my fitness and was looking forward to playing in the tournament. But I’m very much hopeful of making a comeback soon,” the all-rounder was qouted as saying by The News.
Razzaq has broked ties with the rebel ICL and was soon recalled in the Pakistan team this summer and he chipped in with a series of useful contributions to help Pakistan win the Twenty20 World Cup in England.
However, after a spate of unimpressive outings during the disastrous tour of Sri Lanka, the 29-year-old right-armer was ignored for the forthcoming Champions Trophy with the national selectors voting in favour of Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.
The right-handed hard hitting batsman further added that he is ready to do all sorts of hard work to get his place back in the Pakistan team.
”I’ve never avoided hard work and am willing to put in the hours in order to get back my place in the Pakistan team,” Razzaq said.
Razzaq, who has an impressive one-day record with 4529 runs and 250 wickets from 234 outings and also played 46 Tests for 100 wickets and 1946 runs asserted that he is happy after severing ties with cash-rich rebel league and is now focused to play for Pakistan.
”It (ICL) is a thing of the past and all I’m interested now is to focus on my career with the Pakistan team,” he said.
