Rayapati was taking indirect free kick?

Guntur, May 09: It now turns out that MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao’s comment on “tainted ministers’’ in the Rosaiah Cabinet was actually aimed at his rival from Guntur district, Kanna Lakshminarayana.

And the lat ter, minister for major industries, is not inclined to take the attack lightly.

“I will complain to party president Sonia Gandhi against Rayapati. I file my income tax returns regularly and anyone can verify them,’’ he said, referring to charges that he had amassed wealth after becoming a minister.

“Initially, he spoke in general terms. But later he talked of corrupt ministers from Guntur district.

Who else could he be pointing at?’’ Lakshminarayana asked.

Supporters of the minister felt that the MP’s remarks were made with a view to “foiling’’ the proposed visit of Chief Minister K Rosaiah to Laxminarayana’s house in Guntur tomorrow.

A minister from Guntur district, who spoke on condition of anonymity, all e g ed that Sambasiva Rao’s remarks were nothing but an indirect demand for a ministerial berth for his brother Rayapati Srinivas. Instead of pointing a finger at someone, the MP should simply have approached the high command with his request.
