Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao joined the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday.
Rayapati’s brother Rayapati Srinivas Rao also joined the TDP along with his followers. Welcoming them into the party, Naidu said that people in Seemandhra have confidence that only TDP could bring development in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Rayapati announced that he would work hard for the party and would ensure that it wins all three Lok Sabha seats in Guntur and 17 seats in Andhra Pradesh. He is most likely to contest from Narsaraopet Lok Sabha constituency.
Meanwhile, the Vijayawada Police stopped the rally of TDP workers who gathered in large numbers at Gannavaram Airport to welcome Rayapati on his return from Hyderabad. (INN)
