Rayalaseema students launch fast in New Delhi

Students of the Rayalaseema students JAC have started a two-day fast at the Jantar Mantar here, demanding separate package to their region.

Former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy has extended his support to the demand of the students.

Vivekananda Reddy has clarified that they were only asking for better deal and development of the Rayalaseema region and not a separate state. He said the demands of the people of Rayalaseema were very genuine because the region was very backward. He has also demanded that Pranahita – Chevella and Polavaram projects be immediately given national status by the central government. Advocating linking of major rivers, he has also asked the centre to provide more funds and water to Andhra Pradesh. (NSS)
