Hyderabad, August 12: Congress MLAs Srikanth Reddy and Adinarayana Reddy on Wednesday criticised party MLA DL Ravindra Reddy for raising sensitive issues before the media instead of the party fora.
Talking to media persons at the CLP office, the two leaders opined that it would have been better if Mr Ravindra Reddy had raised the issue of alleged irregularities in land allotment by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation before the responsible party leaders instead of before the media as this could damage the image of the party.
The duo wondered the reason behind the timing of the allegations by Mr Ravindra Reddy and said that the reason could be that the MLA could be eyeing a cabinet post. “By making such type of controversial statements, he wants to get closer to Chief Minister and get a ministerial berth” they stated.
“Some vested elements in Congress are dragging the great leader and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name unnecessarily into controversies.”
They said that, “This is not good. Targeting one section of the Congress family is not always good.”
The two MLAs also condemned the description of pro-Jagan activists by some section of the media as ‘YSR psychofans.’
The two said that, “only sadists can make such type of statements.”
Mr Ravindra Reddy had on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into irregularities in land allotments by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation at Nanakramguda in Hi-tech city and said that the allotments were part of a Rs 10,000 crore scam.
He had accused the APIIC of having allotted lands worth crores or rupees to some influential persons, even though it had not gained any benefits from the allotments.
The MLA had alleged that the APIIC had become a ‘pocket organisation’ of some individuals and that 530 acres of lands belonging to the APIIC was meant for industrial development but it was sanctioned to some influential persons in violation of the existing rules and regulations.
He had cited the name of one ‘MR Properties’ as the beneficiary of these allotments by saying that the then government, in 2002 had allotted 530 acres of land at Nanakramguda to the company with 51 per cent shareholding to the company and 49 per cent to APIIC.
He had also charged that, in 2005 the government had revised the deal allotting 76 per cent land to ‘MR Properties’ and 24 per cent to APIIC, he alleged.
The MLA added that the APIIC transferred its entire shareholdings to the Dubai-based MRMGF, the parent company of MR Properties violating the rules and regulations.
