Ravela Susheel, his driver remanded to judicial custody under Nirbhaya Act

Ravela Susheel alias Susheel, son of Ravela Kishore Babu, AP Social Welfare Minister and Manikonda Ramesh Rao of Namalagundu, Secunderabad are cooling their heels in the Chanchalguda Central Jail for trying to molest a teacher, who was walking towards her house in Banjara Hills.


The accused were arrested under Nirbhaya Act for allegedly accosting and trying to molest a school teacher on Friday. They were produced before a magistrate at his Turkayamjal residence. The accused were remanded to 14-day judicial custody and lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail.

According to A Venkateswara Rao, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Hyderabad City, on March 2 at about 4 pm Blue Colts vehicle received information that a mob was manhandling  two persons. The police rushed to the spot on Road No.13, Banjara Hills, near White House where they found one person was injured and the mob reported that the man and another person with tattoo marks were stalking and passing lewd remarks at a lady. The police dispersed the mob and asked the alleged victim Fathima Begum to go to Banjara Hills police Station and report the matter. While the Ramesh Rao was taken to hospital, another accused with tattoo mark  escaped from the scene amidst melee.


Fathima Begum lodged a complaint with the police stating that a four-wheeler with a sticker “MLA” followed her and one person by name Appa Rao and another person with tattoo marks teased her with lewd remarks and also tried to catch her hand while she was walking towards her house. She made a hue and cry and local people chased the vehicle and manhandled the inmates of the car. As per the complaint, a case was registered in Cr.No. 171/2016, U/Sec. 509 IPC.


During the investigation, it was revealed that the alleged accused were Ravela Susheel, son of AP Minister Ravela Kishore Babu and his driver M. Ramesh Rao. The driver mentioned his name as Appa Rao instead of M. Ramesh. Later, the complainant, including other eye-witnesses gave vital details. It was established that the persons who had committed the offence were none other than Ravela Susheel and his driver M. Ramesh. Therefore, the police registered a case and added Section 354 IPC (Nirbhaya Act) against Ravela Susheel and Ramesh in the Court by filing a Memo. and investigated information.


Investigation revealed that M. Ramesh (accused No. 2) was driving the vehicle B.No. AP7CK1777 and Accused No. 1 Ravela Susheel was sitting behind the driver’s seat i.e right side of middle seat. Between 3 pm and 3.30 pm the duo stalked Fatima Begum on Road No. 13 while she was on her way to her house from school where she was working.

The frightened Fatima moved ahead, but the accused adamantly followed her and passed lewd remarks and pulled her towards the car. She made a hue and cry and the local people rushed to the spot and chased the car and manhandled both the accused.


The police served notices on the accused at Ministers Quarters, Quarter No. 20 belonging to AP Minister Ravela Kishore Babu, to appear before the investigating officer  within 48 hours. On Sunday afternoon, the two accused appeared before the police and pleaded guilty during interrogation. The accused were arrested and remanded.
