Mumbai:
After the buzz around her coming out in support of actress Kangana Ranaut in her murky legal battle with actor Hrithik Roshan, actress Raveena Tandon says she is playing a judge in the matter, adding that she is “not taking any one particular side”.
Raveena recently wrote a blog as a guest author for a newspaper. The write up was primarily for the cause of a person’s constitutional right to fight back.
In the full version of the blog titled ‘The Power Men of Bollywood, and how social media has evened the Scales!’, available on her personal website, Raveena states that the with the advent of social media, it has become easier for a person to ‘make their own case’.
Comparing the present scenario with the Bollywood industry of 1990s, she writes, “So who decides what is the truth? In the 1990s this was so prevalent, a married actor would have a discreet affair with the young heroine he was working with and expected the girl to show no emotion or sign of involvement. And God forbid if in a weak moment she does show, all hell would break loose!”
She also opines about the state of journalists who have many a times made situations difficult for the female actors, by taking sides.
The excerpt from the blog read, “These unfortunate incidents are obviously encouraged by some sycophant chamcha journalists – who would sit applaud and encourage the hero, in hope that maybe they become producer and this hero will work with them; or it’s some infatuated blinded girl journo, who would think the hero is God for her, would sit and add fuel to the fire – burning on stake is the remaining amount of dignity the actress/had left!”
However, the article was misinterpreted and reported by many online portals as Raveena’s support to Kangana. The “Mohra” star was even being questioned about her stance.
The 41-year-old posted: “To all those who are giving out judgements, please read – I state clearly – that I have not judged who is right or wrong. I clearly state – that I support a person’s constitutional right to fight back what She thinks is her version of truth.”

Raveena added: “Not taking anyone particular side-generic, anyone who is victim of falsehood, now can present their own case — boy or girl.”
The controversy between Kangana and Hrithik, who were rumoured to have been dating in the past, has taken an ugly turn with both of them slapping legal notices against each other.
But she concludes the piece by making her appreciation for Kangana clear, “Most of the heroines I know secretly might be rooting for Kangana and identifying on some of the points that she’s made. If I applaud Kangana today, is not for that I have already judged who is right or in the wrong, just that it’s high time women find their voice, speak up, and get their due out there.”
Issues between the two actors surfaced when Kangana hinted at Hrithik being her ‘ex’, saying in an interview that she fails to understand “why exes do silly things to get your attention”.
