A total of 29,61,454 ration cards were issued during Phase I and II of the Racchabanda programme as a result of which an equal number of families were benefited.
This was disclosed by the Minister for Civil Supplies, Mr. D. Sridhar Babu in the State Assembly in a written reply to a question. While 5,41,964 ration cards were issued during Phase I of the Racchabanda programme, 24,19,490 cards were issued during the Phase II of the programme, he explained.
Explaining about the steps taken by the government to provide ration effectively to the beneficiaries, the Minister said that all steps were taken to include all the beneficiaries in the Dynamic Key Register and the supply of essential commodities were being done as per this through Public Distribution System at subsidized rates to all eligible card holders below poverty line.
In reply to another question, the Minister for Housing Mr. Kanna Laxminarayana said under the Racchabanda Phase I and II programmes, 3.64 lakh houses and 6 lakh houses respectively were sanctioned.
The Minister further said that as many as 27.52 lakh houses were sanctioned and completed during the period 1995 to 2004.(NSS).
