Commissioner for Civil Supplies C.V. Anand has said Statewide portability has received huge response from the card-holders which is beyond their expectations. “We are very happy that more than five lakh transactions were done through portability State-wide in a span of just ten days after the implementation on April 1. The number of transactions in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal was clear evidence of the tremendous success”, the Commissioner said.
The policy has brought revolutionary changes in public distribution system, he said. “Now the situation is different, previously cardholders used to wait for the commodities, but now the dealers are waiting for the beneficiaries to take commodities. Dealers are competing for providing better services to the card holders. All measures are been taken prevent technical problems. Every shop is allocated 15 to 20% extra stock for the portability transactions. Keeping view that in Hyderabad there are more number of card holders and portability transactions ration shops will supply commodities to the beneficiaries from 1st to 20th of every month. In other districts, it will be completed by 15th of every month”, he added.
