As per the figures of Andhra Pradesh Eye Disease Study, this shocking revelation has come to the fore that one out of 3300 children born in the state suffers from black cataract. Dr. Anil Kumar Mandal, Glaucoma specialist of L V Prasad Eye Institute told this.
Compared to one out of 10 to 15 thousand people in India suffering from black cataract, the rate among children which is one out of 3300 children is very high.
Addressing a press conference in connection with children’s day programme Dr. Anil Kumar Mandal warned that the disease which is not curable can cause blindness. This can affect children of any age including newborns.
