Ras Al Khaimah, March 01: The Ras Al Khaimah Police have asked residents to be cautious as more unstable weather is expected in the emirate during the coming days. This followed the heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, heavy thunderstorms and lightning, which lashed most parts of the emirate on Saturday night.
Major Marwan Abdullah Al Mansoor, Head of the Public Relations and Moral Guidance at RAK Police, said people should be very careful in the current weather conditions which are expected to continue over the coming days. Residents and visitors should limit their movements through the wadis as these places are flooded heavily during the rains, said Al Mansoor.
He also urged motorists to drive carefully, as roads in some areas become slippery due to flooding. The officer also urged beachgoers and fishermen to be extra cautious while venturing into the sea and go out on beaches only during the recommended safe timings.
Major Al Mansoor said all the police rescue teams are on alert for emergency cases and more patrols have been deployed in different areas of the emirate to monitor the situation. Residents have been urged to immediately contact the Police or the Civil Defence in case of emergencies.
Many roads in Khozam, Nakheel, Kharran, Al Rams and other areas of Ras Al Khaimah were flooded and Municipal trucks worked round the clock on Sunday to pump the rainwater out from some of the streets.
Some residents of Ras Al Khaimah complained that rainwater had flooded their homes and those living in old houses said that through cracks in the walls and ceilings of their house, rainwater had leaked in.
The Traffic Police also reported scores of minor accidents due to the rains. The Police have not reported any person being hurt in the Saturday rains in RAK but the some trees were uprooted in some areas due to strong winds.
The Public has been urged to always listen to the weather forecast before travelling, in order to avoid the risks or being inconvenienced due to the bad weather.
